Vancouver foodies, get ready to say buon appetito! A new Italian restaurant is entering the scene this May.

Locanda dell’Orso (“Inn of the Bear” in Italian) gets its name from a legend of a bear that escaped the Colosseum in Rome and found a haven in the courtyard of an inn, where it was sheltered and fed. Echoing the message of hospitality, the new restaurant aims to offer a welcoming space to celebrate the food of the northern and coastal parts of Italy.

For those who like to sip, Locanda dell’Orso also promises a wine and beverage selection of lesser-known Italian and BC wines ideal for meal pairings or aperitivo hours.

The space itself will reside underneath the Victorian Hotel, boasting a classic Italian aesthetic of futurism: a painting technique with elements of neo-impressionism and cubism to create vivid and dynamic art, combined with walnut flooring and burgundy leathers to add an instant sense of intimacy and comfort.
