The developers at Disney Interactive know what kids like; Spectrobes, for the DS, was made for kids. Spectrobes are rare and ancient creatures that have the power to save the galaxy from the evil Krawl. As Rallen and Jeena, players must find and excavate the fossilized Spectrobes, then awaken and evolve them so that they can aid in the quest. The DS touch screen is used to great effect as you expose–with care–the fossils and minerals. A deft touch is required, lest you destroy the sample. Awakening the Spectrobes requires you to hum into the DS microphone, since the creatures respond to your voice. Far and away the coolest feature, though, is that you can trade your evolved Spectrobes with other players by linking your DS handhelds together. I challenge you to find a kid who doesn't like to collect and trade. Rated everyone.
