Pork lovers have three days to chow down at Fuel Restaurants Whole Hog Dinner. This porcine pig-out delivers a five-course ($55, $90 with paired wines) homage to Sloping Hills farms pork that includes housemade charcuterie, braised crown bacon, stuffed pigs ear, and more. PERUVIAN PICKUP
Theres a new contender in town vying for tastiest-chicken honours. Brasas Peruvian BBQ (1428 Vernon Drive) marinates plump birds, then cooks them on a rotisserie (imported from Peru) over hardwood charcoal and serves them with a spicy green dipping sauce. Chicken shacks (pollerias) are everywhere in Peru and until owner Claudio Kihien gets his operational here, Brasas juicy birds are available for takeout Thursday to Sunday by calling 604-716-4609 a day ahead.
BIRTHDAY BUNCH
A handful of city restaurants have hit 10 years, some with fanfare, others not. The Hamilton Street Grill partied last month, Provence Mediterranean Grill is set for November, and the Irish Heather is readying for an across-the-street move. C is celebrating with a Ten-Year Anniversary tasting menu ($130 or half price at Friday lunchtime) available to October 31 (reserve at 604-681-1164), while Trafalgars Bistros 10-Course 10-Year Anniversary Dinner (10 wines included) will be held November 4 ($110), as well as a Nostalgia Menu ($35), November 5 to 10 (604-739-0555).

So you think you know a thing or two about grapes? Visit Salt Tasting Room, 45 Blood Alley, any Sunday evening this month and put your nose and taste buds to the test as you sip through a few wines being considered for the new wine list. Diners can weigh in with their opinions on Sommelier Sundays plus enter a draw for a Salt gift certificate.

Theres a scant three weeksOctober 19 to November 9to dive into Parkside's Game and Wild Mushroom Festival. Opt for the three-courser at $49, or a four- for $57 and enjoy chanterelles, bluefoot, trumpet, and pine mushrooms with rabbit, boar, elk, and other wild-game dishes.
