Milk-ology

I won't get into the technology here; just know that milk plus organic cotton equals lusciously soft fabric. Following on the sustainable heels of bamboo, soy, and corn, Milk-ology is Cotton Ginny's latest venture into materials we can feel good about wearing. The poncho, hoodie, wraparound jacket, and other looks in the collection ($45 to $115) feature a colour palette of sage, sweetgrass, and tobacco, and reference aboriginal culture with printed symbols. Not all Cotton Ginny stores carry the line; you can quench your thirst for Milk-ology at Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver and Burnaby's Metropolis at Metrotown..

No, I don't think that this is something "we can feel good about wearing." Milk in our clothes? What will they think of next, monkey's livers in our toilet seats? Adding milk to clothes for the sake of "lusciously soft fabric" is not, in any sense of the word a "sustainable" practice. Do you have any idea of the havoc the dairy industry is wreaking on the planet's ecosystem? The volume of grains consumed by the cows, the chemical fertilizers, the pesticides, the urine, the feces, the processing? And finally, what about the cows? Isn't a cow's milk supposed to be for her calf? Oh no, wait, it's for my sweater! Egads. Will the idiocy of capitalism never cease?
