Hollywood actor Richard Gere certainly has himself embroiled in Asian politics these days.
The Supreme Court of India stayed his arrest for his public kiss of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty last year in April at an AIDS awareness event.
He is now free to visit the country.
Meanwhile, the Pretty Woman star joined other Hollywood activists, such as Steven Spielberg and Mia Farrow, in protesting the Beijing Olympics.
Gere is calling for a boycott of China if the country fails to deal with Tibetan protests and unrest in a proper manner.
Gere has numerous ties with Asia. He is a practising Buddhist and follower of the Dalai Lama.
Believe it or not, Gere also played the role of a Japanese American cousin in Akira Kurosawa's Rhapsody in August.
