Seattle Super Sonics moving to Oklahoma?

By Jon Cranny

Is this the end of professional basketball for the Northwest? It looks to be pretty close to that scenario after the league voted 28-2 to allow the move of the Seattle Sonics to Oklahoma.

With Seattle having the smallest arena in the league and the team having a revenue-sharing lease with the city, it'll be extremely hard for Seattle to keep the team. Clay Bennett, the Sonics chairman, did a Q&A session on the Sonics' website to explain the process.

The chances of the team staying look to be slim to none. Which means the closest basketball team to Vancouver will be the Portland Trailblazers. Hearing this news makes me wish I had gone to some games, since the team was only a couple of hours away. And I don't think I'll make any special trips to see the Trailblazers.
