Celebrate Earth Day with the Stanley Cup playoffs

By Jeff Paterson

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than not getting in your car and sitting on the couch to watch not one, but two, seventh and deciding games in the Stanley Cup playoffs? Watch hockey, save the planet. Hey, it works for me.

And what's about to unfold tonight certainly works for the National Hockey League. If Washington—the feel good story of the stretch drive—beats Philadelphia, the league gets to showcase Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins in round two. However, if Philly knocks off the Capitals, then the Flyers go to Montreal for round two leaving Sid the Kid and his Penguins to spend a week making headlines in the league's largest media market as the Pens will face the New York Rangers.

Either way, the NHL comes out the big winner tonight.

The pick here is that Washington will finish off Philadelphia tonight—and Calgary will find a way to stop San Jose.
