North West Metal Fest seeks heavy load

By Adrian Mack

Speaking of antisocial—and proudly so—the annual North West Metal Fest is now taking applications to fill its two-day bill. Promoter Jason Crone, of Left Hand Path Tattoo, told the Straight he’s looking for “anything punk. I mean hard, crusty punk, or anything from heavy metal up. It’s gotta be the heaviest of metal, really. Death, grind, thrash—that kind of stuff.”

The site and date of this year’s NWMF have yet to be secured, but Crone promises it’ll be in August as in previous years, and that he’s currently scouting new locations. This will be the fifth North West Metal Fest in six years, indicating the popularity of the defiantly independent event.

“We keep our costs low,” Crone explained. “We’re doing it for $50 for the weekend. That includes camping, parking, the bands, bathroom, and amenities, including food. I’m not sure if we’ll have a river for everyone to play in this year or not.” Bands are invited to apply at northwestmetalfest@gmail.com, and updates can be found at www.bloodredmetalheads.com/.
