Highway of Tears documentary premiere screening

On March 31, 2008, the Missing Women Task Force updated their missing women poster, which now has 59 photos and names of women on it.

(The names of six victims of serial killer Robert "Willie" Pickton have been removed.)

A documentary about these missing women, Highway of Tears, will premiere on Thursday (May 8, 6:30 p.m.) at SFU Harbour Centre (room 1700, 515 W. Hastings).

The film examines the connection between the disappearance of 44 women on Highway 16, between Prince Rupert and Prince George in B.C. Director Sharmeen O'Baid investigates the possibility that these disappearances are the work of a serial killer.

The screening will be followed by a forum to talk about A Walk 4 Justice. The walk will cross Canada from Vancouver to Ottawa to raise awareness about these women and the need for a public inquiry.

The forum will include Beverley Jacobs, Native Womens' Association of Canada president; Gladys Radek, Walk 4 Justice founder; and Don Wright of Amnesty International.
