Playback magazine and Media In Canada have reported that CTV's primetime soap opera Whistler has been cancelled.

A CTV press release had stated it was CTV's first ever one hour drama and one of their largest budgets.

This cancellation will have a significant impact on production levels as its budget was reported to be $1.4 million per episode.

This is the third locally shot TV production to be cancelled this year. The other two were CBC's Intelligence and jPod.

An e-mail and voicemail message to CTV from the Straight were left unreturned.
