Do you know how much fat and how many calories are in your blended coffee drink?
Most of us prefer not to think about it.
But the reality is pretty interesting.
Starbucks lists the nutrition information of their products at their Web site.
The worst offenders?
(The following are all based on Venti sizes.)
Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino Blended Crème with whipped cream has 750 calories and 15 grams total fat. It also has 440 mg of sodium (only the Pumpkin Spice Frappucino Blended Crème with whipped cream has more with 510 mg of sodium).
Iced Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha (with whipped cream) has 710 calories and 26 grams of total fat.
An Iced White Chocolate Mocha (with whipped cream) has 630 calories and 27 grams of total fat.
Nutrition Action Health Letter points out that you should think of this drink more as a milkshake than a coffee. McDonald's Triple Thick Milkshakes, for comparison, have 28 grams of fat (and 1,130 calories).
But if you order an Iced White Chocolate Mocha without whipped cream and with skim milk, there'll be 200 less calories.
Another reason to order without whipped cream is that it has 0.5 grams of trans fat.

For example, a grande coffee Frap has just 240 calories and three grams of fat - which is a pretty big, sweet and sticky drink, with a relatively manageable number of calories. A tall has 180 calories and 2.5 fat grams.
Anyone who calorie counts knows that's still a treat, but it's certainly not the diet disaster that anything starting with "venti" or capped with a mound of whipped cream is.
So discretion, people, discretion.
