Lululemon founder Chip Wilson proved once again why he is one of the most imaginative entrepreneurs this city has ever seen.
Last Thursday night, he held his own funeral to promote the wacky Chip's Not Dead Yet Memorial Mile.
The one-mile run will take place up West 10th Avenue between Alma and Blanca streets on Friday, June 20 at 6 p.m.
Last Thursday, Chip arrived in a coffin in the back of a vintage hearse, courtesy of Kearney Funeral Home. Six strapping young men clad in short shorts sombrely carried the coffin into Relish at 888 Nelson Street.
With bridesmaids, models, and men in suits nearby, the coffin was opened, and out popped Chip, looking ready-as-ever to run. He said he will offer $20,000 to the winner of the race, and he'll handicap people based on their abilities.
Chip's looking for everyone to get a little crazy.
There's a Bahamas Bridal Dash (wedding and bridesmaid dress run), a Russell Beer Mile Underwear Dash, and Pimped-Out Rides for those who want to push a stroller up the hill.
Chip will leverage your $25 registration fee, and all proceeds will be donated to BC Children's Hospital. To see the video, check out Chip's funeral.
