Beach Boys set to play Vancouver in September

The band who made the music that became North America’s soundtrack to summer has announced two dates at the River Rock Show Theatre on September 26 and 27.

The Beach Boys started singing about surfing in 1961, and then made a big splash with hits including “Surfin’ Safari”, “Surfin’ USA”, “I Get Around”, “Help Me, Rhonda”, “California Girls”, and “Good Vibrations”.

Tix go on sale on May 29 at 10 a.m., ranging from $69.50 to $84.50, and are available from www.ticketmaster.ca/ and all Ticketmaster outlets.

It bears pointing out that the current touring edition of the Beach Boys contains exactly one original member (well, two if you cut non-founding member Bruce Johnston some slack). But at least Mike Love was the band's original lead singer. Some acts try to get away with touring with just the original bongo player or something. And some go on tour with no original members at all.

Mike Love, not war.

... just thought I'd say that.
