Kurt Cobain's ashes stolen

The News of the World reported today that Kurt Cobain's remains have been stolen.

The U.K. paper's entertainment blog quotes Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, as stating that she discovered the late Nirvana frontman's ashes (which she kept in a teddy-bear-shaped bag along with a lock of his hair) were missing from her Hollywood home a couple of weeks ago, along with some of her clothing and jewellery.

"I can't believe anyone would take Kurt's ashes from me," Love reportedly said. "I find it disgusting and right now I'm suicidal. If I don't get them back I don't know what I'll do. They were all I had left of my husband. I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again."

In an unrelated Courtney Love story, the former Hole singer posted an item on her MySpace blog on May 30 calling for someone to play bass on her next album. As touchstones for the sound she's after, Love listed the second and third Led Zeppelin albums and the Smashing Pumpkins' Gish. Oh, and Nirvana's Nevermind. Presumably Krist Novoselic won't be auditioning.
