The winners of the Vancouver Student Film Festival as well as the Vancouver Film School/YouTube Scholarship Challenge have been announced.
At the third annual VSFF, ten awards were given out (with a total value of over $10,000) on May 24.
"Touch", a drama about six people in three stories, by UBC's Terry Boake won best director (Boake), best actress (Natasha Peck), and the PS Vancouver Award for Best Cinematography (Kyle Shepard).
"Three AM", about a man saving a drunk driver from a car crash, by Capilano College's Marshall Axani won best screenplay and best actor (Doug Price).
Several Emily Carr Institute winners won awards, including best film ("For You, My People" by Jose Pablo Gonzalez), best post-production (“8” by Jeff Simpson), and the Knowledge Network BC Perspective Award (“Beauty Lies” by Karen Chapman).
The City of Burnaby Best Use of Locations Award went to Jake Dunbar of the Art Institute of Vancouver for “The Playground Duel” and SFU’s Glen Chua won the George McNeill Columbia Academy Audience Choice Award for “Memories”.
In other awards news, three winners were chosen for the Vancouver Film School/You Tube What Matters To You Scholarship Challenge.
Entrants were asked to create a three-minute video that demonstrated what matters to them.
The winners announced on Monday (June 2) are:
Ӣ 17 year old Jorge Rolando Canedo Estrada from Monterrey, Mexico
Ӣ 25 year old Christopher Harrell from Colorado, USA
”¢ 19 year old Stefan Ramirez Pérez from Bavaria, Germany.All have won full-tuition scholarships to Vancouver Film School.
