Beaumont Studios takes it to the limit

Live music has come to the Beaumont Studios for the summer months—and maybe beyond if things continue to go well for Vancouver City Limits. Producers Bruce Gerrish, Colin Speir, and John Pippus launched the Monday-night concert series at the Mount Pleasant theatre and artist space in early June.

“We had this idea to have a singer-songwriter presentation that was not a coffeehouse and was not a bar,” Gerrish told the Straight, “and the Beaumont Stage is a very cool little 65-seat theatre with full lights and sound. The big difference is that people are coming here to see the show, not just wandering in maybe to get a coffee.” Performers have included the Loose Change Trio, TEA, and Marq DeSouza. “There’s no particular genre,” said Gerrish, who thinks the idea might outlive the three months he originally allotted, adding, “We’re getting a pretty good buzz.” The next Vancouver City Limits show takes place on Monday (July 14) and features Sillken, Eddie Warren, and Jessica Beach. The Beaumont Studios are located at 316 West 5th Avenue. Doors are at 7 p.m. and admission is $6.
