Congratulations are in order for JACK FM’s Larry Hennessey and Willy Percy. Friday (July 11) marks 20 years in Vancouver for the veteran jocks, who are perennial readers’ choice winners in the Straight’s Best of Vancouver issue for Best Morning DJs.

After three years in Thunder Bay, the duo moved their partnership to Vancouver’s 99.3 the FOX in 1988, and migrated to JACK FM in 2003. They’ll commemorate the milestone with a best-of show on Friday. “That should take about a minute and a half,” remarked Percy in a call to the Straight.

He believes there’s a simple reason for the pair’s endurance. “For Larry and I, we’ve just always had compatibility,” he said. “It’s not like I don’t see him enough—I see him for a minimum of four hours every stinking day. But if we go to a public function, as soon as the work is done, we hang out together again.”
