Best Sign Of Cinematic Diversity

Every culture and nationality is getting its time on the big screen here in Vancouver. There's the IMAGeNation Aboriginal Film and Video Festival, the Vancouver Pan African Film & Arts Festival, the South Asian MELA! film festival, the Taiwanese Film Festival, the Nepali Film Festival, the Mini Korean Film Festival (no, it's not for small Koreans), Richmond's New Asia Film Festival, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival, the Portuguese Film and Video Festival, the Serbian Film Festival, Festival Cinemas' Vancouver French Film Festival, the European Union Film Festival, the Vancouver Jewish Film Festival, and the OzFlix Australian Film Weekend. And the first ever Brazilian Film Festival of Vancouver launches on October 22.

For groups that aren't represented by a whole festival, there's always the mother of them all: the Vancouver International Film Festival, with its international selections and special Dragons and Tigers focus on Asian cinema. And for the LGBT communities, there's also the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, with queer films from around the world.
