After bands offering albums for free download on their Web sites, Michael Moore has followed suit. His latest movie, Slacker Uprising, is available to download for free for those living in Canada and the U.S. And it’s totally legal.

On his Web site, Moore apologizes for not being able to have the movie available for free download for those living outside Canada and the U.S., saying it is because he doesn’t own the rights to do so.

Moore says he is making the movie available in this way for two reasons. The first is to celebrate 20 years after his first release, Roger and Me. The second is to get more young people to the polls for the November 4 American presidential election.
