Making greener choices could be as simple as consulting your mobile phone. At least, that’s the idea behind Luna, a new iPhone application from 3rd Whale, organizers of the Greenest Person on the Planet competition.

The app lets you find, rate, and comment on environmentally friendly food, health, retail, and travel businesses in your vicinity. Vancouver residents can sign up to download the beta version at www.3rdwhale.com/.

SFU business professor and 3rd Whale founder Boyd Cohen told the Straight that, after the beta period ends October 31, Luna will be expanded to cover Portland, San Francisco, and other cities around the world.

The company also plans to offer Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile versions, as well as a mobile Web site.
