Air India 182 launches doc talk
The Whistler Film Festival and Hot Docs have partnered up to bring monthly Toronto documentary series Doc Soup to Vancouver from October to March.
“We’ve been blown away by the response and the degree to which people have fallen in love with the series,” Hot Docs executive director Chris McDonald said by phone from Toronto. “We’re thrilled to be working with the Whistler Film Festival to share these films with a Vancouver audience.”
The inaugural local Doc Soup kicks off next Thursday (October 16) with Air India 182. Director Sturla Gunnarson will be present to introduce and discuss the film.
Future Doc Soup screenings will include Anvil! The Story of Anvil (November 13), about a Canadian metal band, and Song Sung Blue (December 18), about a husband-and-wife Neil Diamond tribute act.
Screenings take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Pacific Cinémathèque (1131 Howe Street), and tickets are $12 at the door. For more information, see www.docsoup.ca .
