Don't miss Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet

Attention arts fans: word has it there is an unmissable dance performance on the North Shore this weekend. Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, from San Francisco, blew audience members away on its opening night (October 9).

“Unbelievable” and “one of the best dance performances I’ve ever seen” were just some of the comments from Straight staffers lucky enough to have caught the show, which is previewed in this week’s arts section. This is not your typical tutu ballet: the troupe’s work is set to everything from tabla music to baroque, but what is wowing crowds is the sheer, nonstop energy of the company and movement that’s as bold as it is beautiful.

You have just one more chance to catch the company, tonight (October 10) at North Van’s Centennial Theatre. Who knows when they’ll ever head this way again? Highly recommended.
