Although the Vancouver New Music Festival's Solus-The Art of Solo Virtuosity is devoted to sonic invention, many artists coming to the Scotiabank Dance Centre tonight through Saturday (October 23 to 25) have to be seen to be believed. Frances-Marie Uitti (9 p.m. tonight)
Cello magician Frances-Marie Uitti doesn't have much of a YouTube presence, and we couldn't find an example of her radical double-bow technique. But the clip below, with video accompaniment by Yota Morimoto, gives some idea of her fractal imagination.
