New World of Warcraft expansion pack wows gamers

World of Warcraft gamers around the globe were out in droves on November 12, eagerly awaiting the release of the latest installment of developer Blizzard’s best-selling online game.

Well the wait is over. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is now available to the masses.

Anticipating a high demand for the expansion pack, many game and electronics stores held midnight launches, allowing users to get their fix as early as possible.

Boasting more than 11 million players worldwide, World of Warcraft (commonly referred to as WoW) is the leading title in the realm of multiplayer on-line games.

Based on Blizzard’s popular strategy game Warcraft–in which players control massive armies and squads–WoW allows players to explore the same environments, but on a more personal level.

In WoW, players choose from a variety of races and classes to create a unique character. Races include orcs, elves, humans, and dwarves while classes include warriors, priests, hunters, and mages.

In addition to these classes, Wrath of the Lich King introduces a new character class called a “Death Knight” which allows gamers to play as a reanimated corpse in service of the Lich King.

After a player has created their character, they wander the world map and are able to interact with thousands of other players.

In order to play this latest installment, players must already own the previous expansion, The Burning Crusade, as well as the original title.
