While people are getting all excited about the new Star Trek trailer that was recently released, there's something else to tide you over while waiting for the actual movie to come out next year. And it's local.

A group of East Vancouver filmmakers made the fanfic film Star Trek: Chains of Betrayal .

The film, which previously had a screening at the Astoria, will have a DVD launch on Thursday, November 27 (8 to 10 p.m.) at Video In/VIVO Media Arts Centre (1965 Main Street). Admission is a mere $2.

The DVD goes for $10, but quantatites are limited. A collector's item like fo' sho.

There'll also be a meet-and-greet, bar, and question-and-answer period.

Maybe Deanna will be there too, with her powers being knocked out at the most crucial moment of the evening.
