Latest Watchmen trailer chock full of comic book goodness

The Watchmen film is shaping up to be a fan boy/girl’s wet dream.

The first trailer, which debuted with screenings of The Dark Knight, received much media attention.

The latest trailer shows off even more scenes from the comic-book adaptation, and has this fan growing ever more eager, despite a current lawsuit.

Watchmen was written by comic-book legend Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, The Killing Joke), and received much critical acclaim.

It also remains the only graphic novel to have won a Hugo Award.

Of course, with any successful comic book, a film adaptation is soon on the minds of Hollywood.

Despite the movie rights having been picked up by 20th Century Fox in 1986, the same year as the comic’s release, it’s taken more than 20 years for production to get underway.

At one point, director Terry Gilliam was attached to the project, but deemed it to be impossible to film due to the graphic novel’s complex storyline.

Finally, after completing the successful comic-book adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300, Zack Snyder was given the reins and the project took off.

Currently in postproduction, Watchmen is also the latest comic-book film to be shot in our own backyard, with the main set erected here in Vancouver.
