Leonard Cohen preview failed to mention reproductions

In Alexander Varty’s article [“Drawing on a new talent”, December 4-11], there is every indication that the show at Linda Lando Fine Arts included drawings by Leonard Cohen. It did not.

In Varty’s article, there are at least a dozen references to “drawings”, “works on paper”, et cetera, even “doodles”, but nowhere in the article does he say that the show contained only prints made from blown-up reproductions of drawings. The little colour illustration in the Straight itself did Cohen’s drawing as much justice as the framed reproductions in that show. I would never have crossed town over slushy roads to see a show of overpriced reproductions. Articles on the visual arts need to do better than that.
