Michael Ignatieff: a secret Star Trek connection?

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Was Michael Ignatieff ever an actor on Star Trek? Or is Ignatieff secretly a Vulcan? Could Canadian politics have interstellar political influences?

Straight salesperson-turned-poli-sci-fi-investigator Alex Dow stumbled across the startling similarity between the Liberal leader and the Vulcan ambassador to the United Federation of Planets, Sarek.

Sarek, also the father of Spock, appeared in various Star Trek TV episodes and films. He was portrayed by Mark Lenard as well as Ben Cross. (Could one of those names merely be a stage name for Ignatieff?)

A new Star Trek movie by director J.J. Abrams is set to be released later this year. Ignatieff could potentially become the next prime minister if a Liberal-led coalition government is formed. Coincidence?

It remains to be seen if an Ignatieff action figure will be issued as part of future Star Trek merchandise. Or if Ignatieff will go where no Canadian politician has gone before.

haha - we were wondering why nobody had picked up on the Vulcan resemblance, so I thought I'd google his name plus Vulcan, and this came up. Ignatieff, aka Sarek.

At least when he becomes Prime Minister, we will know that the country is in the hands of someone calm, logical, intelligent, and reasonable.

Right now we're in the control of a Ferenghi.
