R.I.P. Estelle Bennett (the Ronettes)

Estelle Bennett, a founding member of the pioneering 1960s girl group the Ronettes, was found dead in her New Jersey home on February 11. The cause of her death is unknown. She was 67.

The Ronettes, in which Bennett was joined by her sister Veronica (better known as Ronnie Spector) and their cousin Nedra Talley, began singing together as teenagers in the '50s. In 1963, legendary producer Phil Spector signed the trio to his Phillies label. The Ronettes subsequently had a string of hits, including "Be My Baby" (see video below) and "Baby, I Love You" before disbanding in 1966.
