Another season of Vancouver Fashion Week has come and gone without too many setbacks. This year proved that Vancouver definitely has what it takes to put on a spectacular show of exceptional talent.

Since its debut in 2000, Vancouver Fashion Week (March 24–29) has become a sought-after event for Canadian and international designers. This year’s shows were held at Storyum (151 West Cordova), where winter, eco, local, Canadian, international, and streetwear designers had models strut, sway, back flip, and breakdance designs down the runways.

An opening gala was held at Leone on March 25, and shows were held from March 26 to 29, with afterparties at various Vancouver venues. VFW went global on March 28 with designers showcasing vintage and contemporary styles from all over the world.

Highlights included gorgeous cocktail dresses by Joseph Domingo from San Francisco while Europe-born (and Vancouver-based) Malene Grotrain's haute couture gowns and perfectly tailored lines were more than deserving of the first and only standing ovation ever from a VFW audience.

March 29’s streetwear show featured KILLA, a Vancouver-based designer whose models that took over the runway breakdancing, flipping, and doing the worm in their hip-hop apparel. Watch the video below to see the highlights from the week.
