James Kyle Bacon, Matthew James Johnston, and Cody Rae Haevischer charged in Surrey murders

The Mounties have announced more charges in connection with the mass murder of six people in a Surrey condominium in October, 2007.

James Kyle Bacon, one of the three Bacon brothers of Abbotsford, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Cory Lal. Bacon is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder of Lal.

Matthew James Johnston and Cody Rae Haevischer have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder of Lal as well as the first-degree murders of Ed Schellenberg, Lal, Michael Lal, Edward Narong, Ryan Bartolomeo, and Christopher Mohan.

In the past, police have said that Schellenberg, a repairman, and Mohan, a neighbour, were innocent victims who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The RCMP revealed that up to 100 investigators worked on the case. On April 4, Dennis Karbonovec, an associate of the Bacons, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the deaths of Mohan, Bartolomeo, and Michael Lal. Karbonovec also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder Cory Lal.

It will now be interesting to watch how the legal system deals with this trash. Who gets bail, how much the lengthy trial will cost the taxpayer will be instructive.

I guess this is not the 'sadistic' and 'lazy bums' group that investigated and arrested the hoods, eh angels?

Oh please...you're not really that gullible are you? 18 months and the RCM Fuckups had bupkes until someone "talked".

For more of the same check out the Ladner-Beaudry thread.

Hook line and attitude. Yeehaw.
I guess they changed case law since the last time I looked. Confessions without corroborating evidence such as wire taps and surveillance means diddly. I am sure that he decided to roll over just from the goodness of his heart. Oh that's right I forgot, he would have been charged with first degree if he didn't roll. Darn, forgot about that. Must have had a good talking to about the error of his ways.

All that overtime for 100 cops. Should have got it done with 2 non lazy bums in a couple of weeks. Wonder who is more lazy the VPD or the RCMP component of IHIT? Maybe its that pesky New West guy. Anyway, they will all be busy with disclosure as per "R. vs Stinchcombe" for many months so you will have time to reflect.

You seem to think I bit into a juicy looking hook. I think you've been exposed to an overdose of lead from your sinkers. I have to admit that I wouldn't want to be a cop today in Greater Vancouver because of all the jealousy created by OT bloated salaries and the additional "income" derived from all the sticky fingers and all the fat stacks of black market cash that manage to pay for cottages and fancy boats. The OT scam has done more to diminish the quality of the policing we recieve except for the drug laws which are the number one reason for rampant police corruption in the first place. Instead of focusing on getting the job done properly and efficiently, your typical cop is more concerned with his status as a 6 figure earner and his mind is on acquisition of toys and on how to keep pace with his fellow officer who just bought a sportsfisher yacht with twin turbodiesels.
In that regard police are no different from all the lawyers who double bill and, come to think of it, I'm sure police officers feel they are just as entitled as lawyers to be multimillionaires.

Sorry, not a fisherman. But I do support capitalism and I see no problem in trying to keep up with the Jones' in toys. I don't see why you want to deny cops the same vainglorious life as the rest of us.

As far as double billing lawyers, caveat emptor. If you are too stupid to read and understand your bill, tooo bad.

Whats wrong with 6 figure income? Can't get by these days unless you have one. I think we should give the cops a huge raise for their trouble. Maybe it will keep them off the pad eh? Twin turbodeisels, is that good?

Ok ok..I'm not against public servants being paid well for giving us a professional service as they teach our children, care for our health, support families, maintain roads, collect garbage, etc etc..even policing. I don't have an issue with a $50K plus starting salary, generous raises and amazing benefits but I do have a problem with all the iffy OT and all the BS that defines Canadian policing efforts. Time for a big overhaul and for BC and all other provinces to rid itself of the RCMP and for our federal government to reduce this disfunctional band of criminally incompetent buffoons to a tenth of it's current size..

Yes Twin TDs are wonderful...you can pollute our waterways while travelling 60 or so Kms an hour while your 1000 plus HP V-12 oil burners cruise at 2600 rpm. It's all so environmentally unconscious.

Careful what you wish for. All police departments in BC are short handed. Poof, we kick the RCMP out of BC provincially and municipally. Where exactly are you going to get the 5000 replacements? Let me guess, converts from the RCMP? So you have new uniforms and the same cars (all with new paint jobs) and people. Just how does this rectify your assertions angels? And where do the extra dollars come from to pay the provincial and municipal union bearing cops come from? Everybody knows that the ot sucking, 6 figure income, lazy bums get more with the VPD or other provincial forces than the RCMP get.
