Put a Korean twist on summer grilling
Instead of hamburgers, why not grill Korean-style? Pick up a pack of marinated kalbi short ribs ($1.87 per 100 grams) or marinated slices of pork, beef, or chicken at H Mart (590 Robson Street), as well as some kimchi and ssamjang hot pepper soybean paste. Barbecue the kalbi and eat it with rice, or try using the grilled slices in a lettuce wrap. According to Ki Kang, a trade officer with the Korean consulate in Vancouver, Koreans like to dab a piece of lettuce with ssamjang; add a bit of rice, some kimchi, and a piece of meat; and eat it as a package.
