Duke Nukem 3D's twitch gameplay comes with a bit of nostalgia
(3D Realms; Xbox 360; rated mature)
When it was first released 13 years ago for the PC, Duke Nukem 3D set a new standard for first-person shooting games.
The pixelated graphics in this rereleased edition are dated, but the twitch gameplay is as frantic as ever.
Duke Nukem returns to Los Angeles to find that aliens have devastated the planet, and it’s up to him to eradicate them. This updated version of the game supports cooperative play for up to eight players over Xbox Live.
The frat-boy humour and adolescent giggles aren’t for everyone, but for those who relish a bit of nostalgia, a return to Duke Nukem might be just the thing.
