Falafel Plus dishes organic treats

Freshness sets the falafels ($5.67) at Falafel Plus apart from others in town. Owner Simon Kfir Karsyente uses organic produce to make the toppings, which include a tabbouleh, crunchy red cabbage slaw, silky roasted eggplant, and sharp pickled red onions. He makes the falafel patties from organic ground chickpeas rather than a powdered mix and fries them to order, so they’re hot and crispy. It all goes into a soft whole-wheat pita. Located at 446 West 8th Avenue (just east of Cambie Street), the shop is open every day except Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (3 p.m. on Fridays).
