Due to a number of added screenings and changes, you might just be able to catch some of those films at the seventh annual Vancouver Latin American Film Festival that you thought you might miss.
If you weren’t able to attend Arrancame La Vida (Tear This Heart Out) on the opening night of the festival on Thursday (September 10), you’ll have another crack at catching this critically acclaimed Mexican period piece on Sunday, September 20 at 3 p.m. at the Pacific Cinémathí¨que (1131 Howe Street).
Watch the trailer for Leonera.
Also important to note is that the second screening of the Argentine drama Leonera (Lion’s Den), about a pregnant young woman who faces the prospect of having to raise her son in prison, has been rescheduled from September 16 to September 20 at 5 p.m. at the Cinémathí¨que.
Lastly, the screening of Peru’s El Premio by Alberto Chicho Durant, about a father who wins a lottery and goes to visit his estranged son in Lima, was incorrectly listed in the catalogue guide on page 29 as playing on September 11. So if you were hoping to see this film, you’re in luck—the actual screening (as listed on page 37) is on Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m. at the Cinémathí¨que.
