Flickr cofounder Stewart Butterfield will be the keynote speaker at the 3rd annual Fusion Venture Forum for Digital Media in Vancouver.

Butterfield will open the financing forum, which will take place from November 12 to 13 at Robson Square, by sharing his success story with the event’s 150 to 200 attendees.

Organized by New Media B.C., the forum will see 20 Canadian digital-media companies present their ventures to investors from Google Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and other firms.

In 2004, Butterfield cofounded Flickr in Vancouver with Caterina Fake. A year later, they sold the popular photo-sharing site to Internet giant Yahoo.

Butterfield continued to work on Flickr until he left Yahoo in July 2008.

In November 2008, the University of Victoria honoured Butterfield with its Legacy Award for Alumni.

In February 2009, Butterfield gave a keynote at the Northern Voice blogging and social media conference held at the University of British Columbia.
