Everything sold in the small store, from food to non-edible goods, is free of animal products. Many items on offer, including the soy-free Daiya cheese ($39 for five pounds), aren’t sold anywhere else in the Lower Mainland. You can shop in person or on-line at www.karmavore.ca/. Owner Sam Jamal told the Straight he opened Karmavore in July to “make it easier for people to adopt and maintain a vegan lifestyle”. Ten percent of profits go to animal-welfare organizations.
