Vancouver on list of cities announced for Lilith Fair 2010
Lilith Fair 2010 here we come!! That was the tweet made on April 24 from Nettwerk CEO and Lilith Fair cofounder Terry McBride announcing that the women’s only festival will be making its comeback after a decade hiatus.
According to a release from Nettwerk the official Lilith 2010 website is set to launch today, revealing the first round of cities that the festival will be hitting. All the usual suspects are there, including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, and of course Vancouver.
McBride is staying quiet on the details for now but says in the press release, “I can assure fans that we have some exciting announcement over the course of the following weeks.”
The all-female festival—a first of its kind—was founded back in 1997 by Grammy-award winning artist and Vancouverite Sarah McLachlan along with Dan Fraser, Marty Diamond, and Terry McBride. Branding itself as a celebration of women in music, the festival ran from 1997-1999 and was one of the highest grossing touring festivals in the world with over $10 million dollars raised for national and local charities.
Artists that took part in the festival ranged from the pop diva Christina Aguilera, outspoken country trio Dixie Chicks, rapper Missy Elliot, and the queen of sentimental folk herself Sarah McLachlan.
McBride promises this year’s festival will be bigger and feature a mix of international artists and local up-and-comers; along with first-time tour dates overseas.
