Michael Jackson tops Canadian weekend box office

MJ still has it.  

As expected, Michael Jackon's This Is It topped the Canadian weekend box office, grossing $1.9 million.

After opening on Wednedsay, October 28, it hauled in a total of $2.8 million. It also debuted in the number one spot on North American charts, with a weekend gross of $21.3 million (USD) and a total gross of $32.51 million (USD).

Meanwhile, horror films got somewhat of a boost from moviegoers seeking thrills and chills on the Halloween weekend. The low-budget frightfest Paranormal Activity continued its upward climb, rising from fourth to second place with $1.22 million.

Halloween II  , originally released in August,  came in  third place ($954,830).
