Make Room For More Mexican
Fans of Don Guacamole's Mexican restaurant (1333 Robson Street) now have shorter waits for muy auténtico margaritas, tacos, nopales, and parrilladas (grilled-meat feasts). The restaurant has taken over the space next door, expanding its kitchen and doubling its seating capacity with cool high-top tables and stools.

Edible Outlet Times Two
Beginning Saturday (November 7) a new Edible British Columbia outpost tucked into the Bay downtown’s Market Square (9999–674 Granville Street) will serve downtowners and commuters alike. The store—complete with demo kitchen—will stock the top-100 sellers from the original Edible B.C. shop at Granville Island Public Market, and tasty gift baskets too. Products include Mission Hill Oculus cherries, Wendy Boys chocolates, Solera Pinot Noir Balsamico vinegar, Vista D’oro jams, and more.

To Market, To Market
Missing your weekly farmers market? Grab your shopping bags—the Winter Farmers Market gets under way this Saturday (November 7) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the WISE Hall (1882 Adanac Street), and continues every other Saturday to April 24, 2010.

Journey Down Cannery Lane
After nearly four decades in business, the Cannery Seafood Restaurant (2205 Commissioner Street) has earned its share of return customers. Those who want to visit one last time before the restaurant closes for good in March 2010 can partake in a range of farewell events happening over the next few months. These include wine-pairing dinners and a story and photo contest based around memorable Cannery meals.

Cooking For Gold
Last month, Cactus Club Cafe’s Rob Feenie beat out Lumií¨re’s Dale MacKay and Pino Posteraro of Cioppino’s, among others, in the Gold Medal Plates competition in Vancouver. On November 27 and 28, he’ll face chefs from across the country in the 2009 Canadian Culinary Championships being held here. The GMP finalists will compete in three cooking events—Mystery Wine Pairing, Black Box, and Grand Finale. Like the other Olympics, tickets don’t come cheap; the wine pairing costs $150, and a full event package is $495. Net proceeds benefit the Canadian Olympic Foundation’s initiatives for Olympic and Paralympic athletes; see www.goldmedalplates.com .
