Flick picks: 65_RedRoses on CBC

65_RedRoses, which documents the struggles of cystic fibrosis patient Eva Markvoort, did spectacularly well at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival. Not only did it have four screenings (one was added), plus an additional screening at the post-festival VIFF Repeats series, it also picked up three awards at the VIFF Closing Gala.

If you weren't able to get to any of the screenings (they were extremely busy), you'll now have the chance to watch it in the comfort of your own home. The emotional journey does have its tear-jerking moments, so for those of you who prefer to bawl in private, this might be good news for you.

The film will be broadcast on CBC's The Passionate Eye on tonight (November 16; 7 p.m., 10 p.m., and 1 a.m. PT).

I had the pleasure of  meeting Markvoort in person at the VIFF Closing Gala party, and she was an extremely gregarious and upbeat interviewee. A truly inspirational individual.
