Nardwuar the Human Serviette joins New Jersey radio station WFMU

In other Nard news, the local celebrity has joined the team at WFMU in New Jersey, otherwise known to Rolling Stone readers as the “world’s coolest radio station”. Station manager Ken Freedman was attending a conference in Vancouver when CiTR listener Brian Lamb hipped him to the Human Serviette. “The next thing you know, Ken asked me if I wanted to do a show on WFMU,” Nardwuar told the Straight. “What got him interested was my interview with Iggy Pop from 1996 and my interview with Geddy Lee from 1998.”

Nardwuar’s inaugural show on October 14 featured the Vivian Girls, Jimmy “Dynomite!” Walker, and K’Naan. “But I have to cut out all the dirty curse words,” he said, “ ’cause in the U.S. there are seven words you can’t say, and for 22 years on CiTR I’ve been saying them.”

You can tune in Wednesdays at 4 p.m. PST at www.wfmu.org/.
