Multitalented Thor Arngrim remembered
A memorial service will be held for theatre artist, Broadway performer, inventor, and personal manager Thor Arngrim on Sunday (January 31) at the Vancouver Playhouse. Arngrim died December 16 in Vancouver as a result of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
He was best known locally for founding the Totem Theatre in Vancouver in 1951. But his career also spanned Broadway gigs (including a role opposite Albert Finney in 1964’s Luther ) and managing the careers of the likes of Liberace, Susan Anton, and Debbie Reynolds. He was married to voice-over legend Norma MacMillan (Casper the Friendly Ghost and Gumby, among many others), who died in 2001.
Doors open at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with a celebration beginning at 2 p.m. A reception will follow (location to be announced).
