The sixth annual Northern Voice personal blogging and social media conference will take place on May 7 and 8 in Vancouver.

Past events have been held during the month of February, but this year’s conference at the University of British Columbia’s Point Grey campus is set for spring because of the Winter Olympics.

Northern Voice’s organizing committee has put out a call for speakers. The deadline for submissions is March 9.

“In thinking about your session, remember that Northern Voice isn’t a business or marketing conference--there are plenty of those already,” Darren Barefoot wrote today (February 5) in a post on the conference blog. “We’re interested in the personal, the political and cultural when it comes to social media.”

Tickets will go on sale later this month and will almost certainly sell out.

Last year’s conference included a keynote presentation by Flickr cofounder Stewart Butterfield as well as sessions on blogging and mental health, social media and journalism, and mobile devices and democracy.
