I'd rather everyone including cute blond women with adorable babies be targeted for silly search/seizure protocols than security staff deciding that you looked scary (brown, beard, etc) and singling you out.  

Yeah, I suppose it's easy to make fun of this one, but I'm actually kind of pleased to have some reassurement that they're treating everyone the same regardless of whether or not you 'look like a terrorist.'

Everyone knows that nail clippers are one of the main tools that Osama bin Laden uses to murder amateur athletes. He gets his nasty sleeper cell buddies to smuggle them into big ceremonies, then use the nail clippers to cleverly snip all the beams that hold up the building, making it fall down and crush everyone. He's done this countless times before, because it is such an ingenious way to murder people with excess freedom. I learnt that by watching CNN and FOX news. 

Were Tamara and all the other attendees cavity searched? It is easy to smuggle nail clippers into a sporting event in a number of different body cavities. How lax can security get? Haven't those in charge heard about the War on Terror? To neglect cavity searches invites terrorists to smuggle their nail clippers into the 2010 Olympics with ease in one of these many available orifices. No one will be safe from the Muslim suicide nail clipper mass murderers until universal cavity searches of all attendees is instituted. With $900 million being spent on security for this 2010 Olympics, the least we can expect is a games that is guaranteed free of nail clippers and other explosive devices that are typically smuggled into these kinds of events by suicide bombers inside of their bodies. It is shameful that this wasn't thought of by the Vancouver City Police, RCMP, Canadian and US militaries, CIA, CSIS, Department of Homeland Security, National Security Agency, FBI, private security consultants and all the other security agencies that participated in the planning and implementation of the security plan for this 2010 Olympics.
Never forget - 9/11 changed everything! We must now be constantly prepared for the ubiquitous undercover sleeper cell Muslim fanatical suicide bomber that hates us all and only wants to murder as many Canadians as possible, preferably with a box cutter or nail clipper, his weapons of choice, because he hates our freedoms. He is most likely plotting to get some nail clippers or other devices of mass murder into the 2010 Olympics, and we can be reasonably sure how he will be doing it - inside his orifices. We must all therefore demand that all athletes, trainers, judges, spectators and employees of the 2010 Olympics submit to mandatory hourly cavity searches, otherwise one of the deep cover murderous suicidal sleeper cell terrorists who has been training for the Olympics for years in preparation for this very event might be able to smuggle some kind of dastardly murderous device into the Oympics, and spoil it for everyone for years to come!
Or - imagine some athlete brings his nail clippers into an Olympics facility to trim his or her nails and drops it by mistake, or leaves it lying around, and a terrorist finds it. Can you imagine the consequences? Thousands of deaths! The only way to prevent this kind of catastrophe is by requiring all athletes and other on site workers to have their nails inspected each shift, to make sure that they are nice and trim and neat. That way there will be no reason for any of them to smuggle any nail clippers into the 2010 Olympics in their orifices, and then the suicide bomber's dastardly planned will be foiled by our brilliant countermeasures. These suggestions should be acted on immediately. Otherwise I recommend that people stay away from any Olympic related event, for you will be taking your life into your hands if you don't. 

Sounds like Tamara TAGGART needed a story to write. Rules are rules, even if you are part of media.

I guess both the writer of this non-story and Ms Taggart both do not understand that everyone is put to the same security standard when entering an event venue.

At least someone is doing their job!! It's shocking that people are so offended or troubled by this.

Huh-I bet you are one of those people that complain that they cannot bring water through security at the airport or claim not to have known.

Its not like we haven't had 8-9 years to get used increased security measures at the airport and event centers.

They should have, put out notices, to inform citizens what is not allowed to be carried in. I always carry nail clippers and a file in my hand bag. It would have never dawned on me, they could be considered as weapons. Pens and safety pins, are common in woman's hand bags. Some men are amazed, by all the junk, that spills out, when the hand bag is dropped. 

I find it shocking indeed that a boring cookie-cutter tart of a WEATHER GIRL is deemed worthy of celebrity status here in Vancouver, B.C.
