The Georgia Straight presents Jónsi in concert at the Vogue Theatre

Live Nation announced this morning that Jónsi, frontman of Icelandic experimental-rock quartet Sigur Rós, will be kicking off his first solo tour in Vancouver this April.

Last month, Sigur Rós announced on its Web site that it wouldn’t be putting out any records this year “since the band members are all currently tending their offspring.” Jónsi will play two all-ages shows at the Vogue Theatre on April 6 and 7 with special guests following the release of his debut album Go in March.

Tickets for the Georgia Straight presentation are priced at $39.50, plus service charges, and go on sale to the general public this Friday (February 12) at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.ca, but Straight readers who sign up for THE LIST newsletter by Wednesday can get tickets a day early with our exclusive presale starting Thursday (February 11).
