Sneak peek: Fireworks for the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies

Last night (February 8), Vancouver resident Evgeni Chekanov witnessed a fireworks display launched at the end of a dress rehearsal for the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies.

The actual event is scheduled to take place on February 12 at 6:00 p.m. While the show will take place inside BC Place, it has become apparent that fireworks will be ignited outside the stadium. Here's a sneak peek at what you are likely to see.

Are there going to be fireworks every night? We can hear them and they are loud but we can't see them. If they are going to keep happening, we'd love to know about and go instead of just getting the noise!

Seriously???? I have to listen to fireworks every night just before 11pm????? some of us have to work!!! i love fireworks, don't get me wrong....but could they go on a little earlier? Please?

Completely ridiculous
I work for an olympics venue at 6 in the morning and have to get up at 4:30 AM every day. So far these fireworks have woken me up EVERY night just before the noise complaint bylaw time kicks in at 11PM. Did no one seem to think about all the people working for the very event that is putting on these fireworks mere hours after a five minute ling series of ridiculously loud concussive blasts? Who should I be calling to complain? The city? VANOC? I need sleep!

Obviously
Too bad you guys aren't getting enough sleep. Was there some kind of miscommunication when you heard the Olympics were coming to Vancouver? Were you expecting peace and quiet? I know it sucks, but choose your battles and stop being such a baby. Find an alternate solution to reciprocating your own misery :-(
