Sarah McLachlan carries Olympic torch in Kitsilano

Sarah McLachlan has fun on the run while security staff keep the crowds parted.

At about 7 p.m. tonight, Sarah McLachlan carried the torch on West 4th Avenue in Kitsilano. She ran up the slope from MacDonald Street, and handed off the torch at Balsalm Street.

I didn’t recognize the guy she handed it off to, and he was too far away (and ran too fast) to ask. But I did hear him say to her, “What an honour” as she lit his fire.

The crowd, of course, went wild. Then Sarah was whisked into the Olympic van, and off she went with the security crews.
