Speed skater Sven Kramer disqualified from 10,000-metre race at Vancouver Olympics for failing to switch lanes

Sven Kramer is perhaps the most famous athlete in the Netherlands, so you can imagine the reaction when he was disqualified from the men's 10,000-metre speed-skating race at the Vancouver Olympics.

Kramer, a gold medallist in the 5,000-metre race, was given the wrong instructions by his coach and did not switch lanes at the appropriate time. He won the race, but lost the gold medal on the technical error.

Korea's Lee Seung-Hoon, the silver medallist at 5,000 metres, was awarded the gold. Russia's Ivan Skobrev won silver, and veteran Dutch skater Bob de Jong took the bronze.

Why no time correction? He was so much better then place 2 that's not really fair?

Even though it sucks to lose like that, this guy comes across as a very arogant prick. Most other athletes Id feel sorry for, but not him!

He deserves this... especially with his "show-off" attitude to that American reporter last week. I'd feel sorry for other athletes; but this guy deserve what he got.
