Lou Reed charms Chambar

Cindy Crawford waltzed in once, but Sebastien Lagors reckons that Lou Reed is now the most impressive diner he’s seen at Chambar. But that’s probably because the notoriously crabby legend was apparently quite taken with the general manager. For one thing, the two discussed their shared struggle with diabetes.

“We totally bonded,” Lagors told the Straight. “All night long he was calling me over and having chit-chats. He was super cool.”

Reed was in a party of 70 that invaded the Beatty Street eatery after the February 19 performance of the Neil Young Project. Reed told Lagors that the show was “alright”, but he loved the restaurant. Elvis Costello also dropped by on what turned out to be Chambar’s busiest night ever, but Lagors said he was too occupied to notice who else was there. And, really, does anyone know what the dudes in Broken Social Scene even look like? “Yeah, I have no idea,” Lagors said, chuckling.
